Group Tabs By Domain Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 23, 2026

Group Tabs By Domain helps organize and search tabs that are currently open in Google Chrome. This policy explains what information the extension handles and how it is used.

Information handled

To provide tab grouping and tab search, the extension processes the following information about currently open tabs on the user's device:

How information is used

This information is used only to group tabs, apply the user's domain rules and ignore list, and display the tab-search interface. Processing occurs locally in the extension and is not used for advertising, profiling, analytics, or unrelated purposes.

Storage

User settings, ignored domains, and custom rules are stored in Chrome storage on the user's device and, where enabled by the extension, Chrome's sync storage. Group Tabs By Domain does not operate its own account, database, or backend service for this information.

What the extension does not do

Favicon services

Some domain icons may be loaded by the browser from the favicon service used by the extension. Those requests are made only to display an icon. Group Tabs By Domain does not receive, store, or use the favicon response for any other purpose. The applicable third-party service's privacy policy may also apply to those requests.

Data removal

Users can remove their saved rules and settings from the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes its local data according to Chrome's extension storage behavior. Synced data may also be managed through the user's Chrome sync settings.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices change, this policy will be updated before those changes are introduced.
